Apple cider vinegar has been used for weight loss for centuries. It is a safe natural way to shed those extra pounds easily. Most health food stores carry several brands of apple cider vinegar. When choosing one for weight loss it is important NOT to pick one that is distilled, filtered or pasteurized because these extra processing steps destroy the many vitamins and nutrients in the apple cider vinegar eliminating its health and weight loss properties.

How Much Should You Take?

It is recommended to take one to two teaspoons in a glass of water before each meal. To improve not only the taste but the effectiveness of the apple cider vinegar, add one to two teaspoons of raw honey to the mix.

How Does It Work?

No one is completely sure how apple cider vinegar works to reduce weight. It is generally believed that the nutrients, enzymes, and organic acids in apple cider vinegar cause weight reduction by acting as an appetite suppressant. It also increases your metabolism and helps reduce water retention. The nutrients and enzymes can also help you maintain a feeling of well being, keeping you from emotional eating. Recent medical research has also shown that apple cider vinegar can slow the rise of blood sugar after you eat a meal. So taking apple cider vinegar before a meal reduces the amount of insulin required to process the meal which results in weight loss.

How Long Will It Take?

Apple cider vinegar will not make you skinny over night. It is a slow process but the results will be permanent. In general, a person can lose an average of 15 pounds in a year by simply adding two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar before each meal. That is without changing your diet in any way except for avoiding excessively fatty foods. To speed up the process you can take two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before meals instead of two teaspoons. It you do this you can loose two to four pounds in a four week period.

Apple cider vinegar is not a miracle cure. It will help you reach your weight loss goals faster when combined with proper diet and regular exercise. Be patient. It took you years to put on all that extra weight. It will take time and effort to take it off. Believe in yourself and don’t give up on your goals. You can do it.
