The Buck Stops Here – Dark Peppermint Mocha Anti Cellulite Scrub

Cellulite is the bane of most women’s existence. Getting rid of it is so hard. Luckily there is a solution right in your kitchen cabinets. Forget expensive beauty creams, a simple coffee scrub works way better and it costs pennies to make. There are literally hundreds of the same boring scrub recipe out there. Coffee and coconut oil or coffee, coconut oil and brown sugar. So I thought, why not have some fun with it. Make it smell so good you want to eat it and technically you can. This scrub smells like a delicious cup of Starbucks coffee and it packs a super charged punch when it comes to fighting cellulite with two extra cellulite busting ingredients, dark cocoa and peppermint. So here is what you are going to need.

Dark Peppermint Mocha Anti Cellulite Scrub

1 cup dark brown sugar, packed

1 cup dark roast coffee

1/2 cup dark cocoa powder

1/2 cup coconut oil

10 – 20 drops peppermint essential oil

In a large bowl add the dark brown sugar. Add 5 drops of the peppermint essential oil at a time until you reach desired scent strength, stirring it into the brown sugar. This will distribute the scent evenly throughout the scrub. Add the coffee and the cocoa powder. Stir well to combine, making sure to break up any lumps formed by the brown sugar. Melt the coconut oil in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time until melted, stirring in between or heat on stove on medium heat in a double boiler until melted. Pour into dry ingredients and stir until well moistened. Spoon into airtight container and place in fridge for about a half hour until coconut oil solidifies again.


How to use it?

In the shower or tub, take a handful of scrub and massage gently into skin. If possible, leave it on for a few minutes then rinse well with warm water. Do not use soap afterwards or you will remove the oil and all the benefits from the scrub. Pat the area dry so you don’t rub off all the oil and other ingredients from your skin. (Also can be used as a face scrub or lip scrub if you choose to.) Caution: Coconut oil can leave the tub slippery so be careful.

Coffee breaks down fat. Brown sugar exfoliates as well as softens and moisturizes skin. Coconut oil is also anti-inflammatory and a great moisturizer. It also helps eliminate cellulite, varicose veins and stretch marks. Peppermint oil helps to increase blood flow.  It also improves dull skin.
